These early transitions continue to inform his compassionate, culturally sensitive approach to mental health care.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Binghamton University, State University of New York, and received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He has conducted research on Alzheimer’s disease, utilized 3D modeling to deepen understanding of human anatomy, and translated Japanese psychiatric literature into English to help bridge global perspectives in mental health.
While in medical school, he witnessed the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic in the Bronx, which inspired his strong commitment to addiction medicine and psychiatric care for underserved populations—especially immigrants, refugees, and individuals navigating multiple cultural worlds.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Yuto volunteered his time delivering groceries, assembling care packages, and tutoring children of frontline healthcare workers, further reinforcing his dedication to community support and resilience.
